ProEcu Tuning Suites

EcuTek's ProECU Tuning Suites allow the calibration and reprogramming of the vehicle's original engine management system in situ via the on board diagnostics (OBD) port. These tuning suites provide a host of features that help the tuner achieve fast, accurate and successfull mapping.

Who are ProECU Tuning Suites for?

ProECU Tuning Suites have been designed with the professional tuner in mind. Those familiar with engine management will find the software intuitive, powerful and easy to use.

This product is available to the commercial tuner only and is not supplied to individuals.

If you would like your own engine tuned, please use the EcuTek Dealer Locator to find your nearest tuner. Please also look at the ProECU Programming Kit page for retail tools.

How is the ECU reprogrammed?

To reprogram the ECU, the EcuTek programming interface is simply plugged into the diagnostic socket of the car. Some of the supported vehicles can then be reprogrammed in under 25 seconds!

Unlike other "chipping" solutions, ProECU Tools require no soldering and no physical access to the ECU – an altogether quicker, cleaner and more reliable method of tuning. Rather than spending time soldering and desoldering hair thin chip legs, the tuner's time can now be spent more productively, with less time spent wiring things up and more time actually improving mapping of the customer's car.

Once an effective map has been produced for a particular combination of modifications, further identically mapped ECUs may be rapidly produced. This is extremely useful for companies who wish to package a pre-mapped ECU with their exhaust manifolds or turbo / front mounted intercooler kits.

Why Reprogram the Original ECU?

  • Reprogramming the original ECU is by far the cleanest, safest and quickest way of correctly compensating for engine, induction and exhaust modifications. The maps in the standard ECU may be adjusted to cater for virtually any modifications that may be made to the car.

  • Civilised features such as cold start and idle stability are retained and performance mapping is created on the basis of the (already veryy good) standard manufacturer map.

  • Accurate mapping replaces risky boost clamps, bleed valves, boost controllers and piggy-back modules, these extra devices discarded for good.

  • The safety features of the ECU are retained, such as sensor checks, fuel cut, boost cut, rev limit, speed limit and "limp-home" mode, though they may be altered to suit the car and its modifications. As an example, if the ECU detects a problem (say, engine over-temperature or failed sensor) it is still in full control of boost pressure and so takes evasive action to protect the engine. This comes as a stark contrast to external controllers and piggyback modules either taking control of the engine functions or fooling the ECU about the state of its sensors.
